Why pre-register ?
We have to remind you that pre-registrations are essential for the organizing team.. They enable us to anticipate the number of participants so that we can properly size the various facilities (registration, toilets…) for everybody’s comfort. Those of you who will have pre-registered will be allowed to enter the site as soon as Tuesday July 26th at 10.00 am, while the other participants will have to wait till 5.00 pm. For obvious organization reasons, the organizing team will not be able to book camping spots in advance. You can pre-register until May 31st 2011 on www.2cvfrance2011.fr.
With a higher participation than initially expected (thanks to the pre-registrations for allowing us to take this increase into account), we have managed to secure more camping fields next to the meeting site, thanks to the city of Salbris, which bring the total area to 80 hectares, of which 60 hectares will be for camping only.

You will have access to 17 sightseeing routes. They will be between 80 and 170 km long and will give you the opportunity to visit main castles, museums and famous landmarks of the area. Some of them will offer special reductions to the participants of the World Meeting (for example the Valençay castle where 2CVers will have the opportunity to park their car right in front of the castle, the Matra automobile museum in Romorantin-Lanthenay, with a special exhibition on the 2 CV, and many other sites). All partner sites (museums, castles, etc) will be signposted "site partenaire Mondiale 2 CV 2011". Night visits will also be available at Aubigny-sur-Nère and Mennetou-sur-Cher (advance booking).
Road-books will be available at the tourist information stand.
Three discovery circuits (“Vineyards” towards the Jura, “Between Mounts and Valleys” towards the Alps, “Loire and Castles” towards Brittany) will be on offer after the World Meeting. They will last 7 days, from Sunday July 31st. For more information and registration, please visit the tourist information stand during the meeting.
Shopping and catering during the World Meeting
We currently have 74 professional stands booked for the meeting. They will provide you with spare parts, photographs, souvenirs, tee-shirts, gadgets and 2 CV memorabilia. On the food side, we will have an on-site baker with fresh bread and croissants every morning, a greengrocer, two delicatessen shops as well as various restaurants offering pizzas, roast chicken with chips, tartiflette (mix of potatoes, cheese and bacon), frogs legs (what else!), pancakes, waffles, ice-cream, couscous, etc….
Swap-meet for private individuals
A swap-meet (spares, models, etc) will take place every morning between 8.00 and 12.30 am. It will be strictly reserved to the participants of the meeting who will have to register on an official logbook, in accordance with French law.
Two mini trains will travel everyday from Wednesday to Saturday, through the camping area to the main site. They will provide better comfort and accessibility, reducing car traffic and parking problems.
Learning how to control your vehicle in emergency situations
You will be welcomed and taught by qualified instructors on the go-karting circuit.
The first lesson will be with go-karts and the second one with your own 2 CV. They will take place on Wed. July 27th, 8 – 11 am. Please register with the Entertainment Committee.
Tappet cover racing
We are thinking of setting up tappet covers races. To participate, you need to build a vehicle using a 2 CV tappet cover with the following characteristics: length = 700 mm max, width = 200 mm max, maximum weight = 4.5 kg, axle width = between 100 mm and 200 mm, ground clearance between 20 mm and 60 mm, no side wheels, free design. Pre-registering is with the Entertainment Committee.
The date of the race will be announced in a future newsletter.
Each day, we will highlight a different alternative type of energy: electricity, gas, water, compressed air, etc… Wednesday will be the day of bio-ethanol, on Thursday we will focus on the use of water and gas, Friday will be dedicated to electricity and Saturday to tuned engines in the department of reduced consumption or increased performance. Please get in touch with the Entertainment Committee for more info.
World championship of 2 CV dismantling/rebuilding
Several countries have entered the competition, but it is still time to register and take up the challenge ! The qualifying rounds will consist of the dismantling/rebuilding of an engine by a single contestant from Wednesday to Friday. The fastest competitors will be selected to build a national team which will take part in the dismantling/rebuilding of a 2 CV on the Saturday!
The 2 CV museum
The Museum of the World Meeting will be the first one to display numerous versions of 2 CVs at the same time on the same spot !! It will go through the history of the 2 CV, from its birth to the present day, dealing with various themes and using different types of exhibitions. Meanwhile, an open-air museum will focus on the main models of 2 CVs and derivatives:
Wednesday: the 50s and 60s (A, AZ, AZAM and vans).
Thursday: the 70s and 80s and the limited editions.
Friday: the derivatives (Méhari, Dyane, FAF…) and the 50th anniversary of the Ami.
Saturday: modcons, customs, etc…
On Thursday July 28th, a special site will be dedicated to off-road driving. Only purpose-built 2 CVs will have access to this secure site through pre-registration with the Entertainment Committee. Slovenia and Poland candidates for the organization of the 2015 World Meeting
Our Slovenian friends have announced at the AGM of Amicale Citroën Internationale in Paris that they will bid for the organization of the 2015 World Meeting of 2 CV friends, 20 years after hosting it in Maribor. Our Polish friends have also confirmed that they will run for the 2015 World Meeting. We have heard of another (but still unofficial) candidate. We strongly encourage other potential candidates to contact the organizing team as soon as possible so that we can organize the presentation of their bids in the best possible conditions.
